Zie/see Publications and Milestones, in summary;
A calibrator has been proposed for PCR (Lyon et al. Development and evaluation of a calibrator material for nucleic acid-based assays for diagnosing aspergillosis. J Clin Microbiol 2013; 51(7): 2403-5).

The EAPCRI is progressing with its systematic review of Aspergillus PCR as part of the Cochrane collaboration (Cruciani et al The Cochrane Library 2012).

The EAPCRI is involved in assessing the clinical utility of Aspergillus PCR in two trials: 1) Prevention of Invasive Fungal Infections in Subjects Receiving Chemotherapy for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (AmBiGuard) ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT01259713 and 2) Empirical Versus Preemptive Antifungal Therapy (EORTC65091-06093) ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier:NCT01288378.

The group has established a programme for standardising Aspergillus PCR in Bronchoalveolar fluids.

The EAPCRI is one of many ISHAM working groups. ISHAM supports Working Groups for several reasons. To promote specific topics within mycology. To increase the visibility of ISHAM and fungal diseases and related topics to external audiences, partly through scholarly publications. To support both the education and training of mycologists at all stages of their careers. To develop non-duplicative guidelines and publish position statements on research in mycology for ISHAM members and beyond. And to provide a resource to ISHAM about specific topics, notably for contributing speakers and/or symposia for the 3 yearly ISHAM general meeting.

The Yearly ISHAM reports of the EAPCRI working group can be found here.
